Ping

Updated: Dec 29, 2025

The SafecomLink Ping feature is a rapid diagnostic tool designed to instantly verify the validity and signal quality of a radio link with another station before initiating a full conversation. This functionality executes a short Link specifically for the purpose of exchanging reports.

Key Value Proposition

The Ping option guarantees a quick confirmation of connectivity and signal strength. It allows operators to promptly check the link between two stations, ensuring the link is viable enough to sustain communication and thus avoiding wasted time or resources on connections that have degraded propagation conditions.

Operational Details and Benefits

  • Instantaneous Reporting: The function quickly connects to the target station only to exchange SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) reports.

  • Concise Operation: A ping results in an immediate connection followed by an automatic disconnect once the report exchange is complete.

  • User Control: Operators can choose to either allow or explicitly disable incoming ping requests via settings.

The Ping feature acts like a quick digital handshake, verifying the quality of the connection in real time, so communication efforts are concentrated only where a robust link is confirmed.
