EmComm mode

Updated: Dec 29, 2025

The EmComm mode of SafecomLink) is a highly tuned operational setting designed to maximize efficiency, speed, and visibility during crisis and emergency communications.

Key Value Proposition

EmComm mode optimizes critical message delivery by providing tactical overrides to standard operational protocols. This allows operators to streamline data exchange, shorten connection times, and rapidly share crucial status information across the emergency network.

Operational Details and Benefits

  • Customized Beacons and Status: Beacons, which serve as keepalive signals, can be configured to fire at shorter intervals. When operating, your beacon transmission includes an EmComm station status indicator so that receiving stations immediately know you are in a state of emergency communication.

  • On-demand Check-ins: While in EmComm mode, you can request all other EmComm stations on the frequency to immediately send a beacon, allowing you to quickly see who is currently available.

  • Protocol Optimization (Time and Power): To conserve valuable transmission time and power during critical links, EmComm mode allows the operator to disable Call ID sending and disable SNR report sending during a Link. This minimizes the link handshake protocol.

  • Data Automation: The feature allows for automatic incoming file approval, regardless of the file size set in general settings. This speeds up the transfer of critical forms or images, even to unattended stations.

  • Situational Awareness: The system supports "Last connections peeking," allowing a connected station to query and view your last five connection records.

  • Network Notification: When utilizing the frequency scheduler to change frequency automatically, the EmComm mode enables Change-frequenct Notify via Broadcast, sending a message to all stations to alert them of the frequency change before your station moves.
