What is the best procedure for timing QSY after making a connection?
After I initiate and successfully connect to another station, I usually send the slot qsy request right away. The program wants you to qsy within 10 seconds. If you do that before receiving a confirmation from the other station, do you leave them behind on the CF? This may only be an issue at lower SWR (below -10) when things are slow. I am not sure how long to wait on CF for the confirmation or will everything work out if you just go ahead and QSY right away after sending the request? What has worked best for you?

It's best for both stations to let the system perform the QSY automatically after the 10-second countdown. This gives the initiating station enough time to receive the ACK before both sides switch frequencies.
What I sometimes see is that the receiving station approves the QSY invitation almost immediately. As a result, its system switches before it has enough time to send the ACK on the Calling Frequency (CF). The initiating station never receives the ACK, assumes the invitation was not accepted, and continues retransmitting the QSY request on the CF.
For this reason, it's strongly recommended to wait for the full 10-second countdown and let the system handle the QSY automatically. If something does go wrong, the system includes a QSY recovery mechanism that automatically brings both stations back to the Calling Frequency within 20–30 seconds.
