SafecomLink supports Direct CAT control to manage transceiver functions natively, eliminating the need for external bridge software. This allows the software to perform all essential radio control tasks internally.
Direct CAT Control Overview
This functionality is central to SafecomLink's automation features, particularly for frequency management.
Connectivity: Direct CAT configuration uses either a traditional COM Port or a TCP connection (for modern SDRs) to communicate with the radio. Users configure necessary parameters such as Port, Baud rate, Parity, and Stop bits.
Core Functions: When Direct CAT is enabled, SafecomLink manages PTT (Push-to-Talk) control and Frequency Control (reading the current frequency and executing shifts).
Advanced Features: Direct CAT unlocks critical automated capabilities:
Automatic Frequency Change: allowing the software to automatically change frequency to a new frequency upon invitation.
Antenna Tuner Activation: The software can trigger the transceiver's antenna tuner (e.g., set to ALWAYS tune or tune only on BANDSKIP) when changing frequencies.
Antenna Selector: For rigs supporting multiple antennas, direct CAT control is required to automatically send the command to switch to the appropriate antenna upon band changes.
The software supports over 100 models, including Icom, Kenwood, and Yaesu.
