How are Calling Frequencies Chosen?

I am curious how you chose the calling frequencies for VarAC and SafecomLink? Do you run listening tests on the allowed digital frequencies? I ask as I would like to add some Marine SSB frequencies to my own dropdown list. I have the list of allowed bands for Marine-Digital. This would be for communication with those with marine band permissions and do not have amateur licenses. I have not fully researched what is allowed yet.

Thank you,

Harley

Choosing calling frequencies is a long and carefully considered process. It takes into account existing calling frequencies, IARU band plans, compliance across all three IARU regions, bandwidth limitations for data communications, the use of unattended stations, and the need for continuous monitoring of the frequency.

The resulting frequencies may not always be optimal for every use case, but they are selected with all of these factors in mind.

Good luck with selecting calling frequencies for sailors. Please let us know which frequencies you ultimately choose. We may consider creating a Sailors Edition in the future, and those frequencies could potentially become the default calling frequencies for that version.

I want to disconnect now!

Yes, we know the situation: you're in the middle of a file transfer or a long transmission, and you want to disconnect NOW.

Aborting is not polite, as it leaves the other side hanging and retrying for a full minute. On the other hand, pressing "Disconnect" currently waits until the transmission is fully completed.

Not anymore.

In the next version, clicking "DISCONNECT" will immediately clear the outgoing buffer and initiate the disconnect sequence.

If you prefer to disconnect only after the current transmission is completed, simply use the <DISC> tag in the chat message. Coming soon...

SafecomLink for Pactor V14.0.29

Radio : Kenwood TS-480sat --- TNC SCS PTC-IIIusb

Yesterday after installing the latest mentioned upgrade My radio started giving me a problem.

once the 14.0.29 started to run the radio would keep changing frequency from 14.120.000 to 14.118.500 continually like a light being turned off and on.

When using Alpha 4 on CF14.109.000 the shift is set to -1.5 making the dial frequency 14.107.500.

because of this I considered that there was q conflict with the settings from Alpha 4 so I reset the TNC and again loaded 14.0.29 but the problem continued.

posted for the information of members and users.
